2024 OUTSTADING FATHER IN THE CRAFT

Brother Gary T. Davis was born and raised in Harlem New York in 1966. He attended A. Phillip Randolph High School, graduated from Bowie State University with a BS in Business Administration and obtained a Master’s Degree from George Washington University in Public Administration, School of Education and Human Development. Brother Gary T. Davis is a proud Father of two children, Dontece and Cory Davis and Pop-pop of Chasity Davis, his 11-year-old granddaughter. He is the son of John T. Davis and Margarete Bolden, with two biological brothers Reverend Juan L. Davis and Allan M. Bolden. Brother Gary T. Davis was employed for 20 years with Verizon Communications, formerly New York Telephone and retired as an Area Operations Manager. He went on to work for Lockheed Martin as a Program Manager for the Small Business Energy Efficient Program and now currently works for the MTA in the Department of Diversity and Civil Rights as a Training Manager and Business Development Consultant for the Small Business Development Program. He is charged with developing and training Minority, Women, Disadvantaged and Service-Disabled Veteran Owned construction firms to gain prime construction contract opportunities with the MTA.

 

Brother Gary T. Davis was raised as a Master Mason in Joppa Lodge No. 55 of the Most Worshipful Prince Hall Grand Lodge of the State of New York in 2000. In 2003, he was appointed President of Joppa Lodge No. 55’s Financial Club. In 2009, he was elevated to the highest office any Master Mason can hold in a masonic lodge, that of Worshipful Master and served again in 2016. Also, in 2016, he was elected and served as Worthy Patron of Gardenia Chapter No. 41. Brother Davis was awarded the New York State Assembly Citation for Charitable Endeavors along with several Master Mason of the Year Awards. In 2014, Brother Davis was also elected President of the First Masonic District Association, the largest district in the jurisdiction of New York. As President, he collaborated with his team and converted the district’s bank account from a negative $34 dollars to a profit of $5000 dollars in his first year through successful fundraising initiatives and planning. He also served on the board of directors of the Prince Hall Colonial Park Daycare Center where he continually raised money for the benefit of the children at the daycare. He was then appointed District Deputy Grand Master by then MW Dorian R. Glover, and in 2019, at the 173 Annual Grand Session, he received the title of District Deputy Grand Master Emeritus. In 2022, he was nominated by MW Gregory R. Smith Jr., Grand Master, to receive his 33rd and final degree in Masonry. Brother Gary T. Davis continues to teach Worshipful Master training classes for new and future masters and to be at service to the craft and the community at large.
