KEVIN M. BUIST

Kevin Buist currently holds the position of Facilities Director for the Fordham Hill Owner’s Corp., a private cooperative residence to over 4,000 residents in the Bronx. Prior to that he retired in 2016 from the New York City Housing Authority as an Electrical Engineer after 28 years of service and holds the distinction in the Authority of being the longest Department Director in its history. Kevin graduated from the Pennsylvania State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering (’87), and holds a master’s degree from the NYU Graduate School of Arts and Sciences in Physics with an emphasis in Nonlinear Dynamics and Chaos (’90). Always wanting to be a business owner he founded Select Computer Solutions LLC in 2016. Through his business he continues to serve his community by providing free and affordable professional services and expertise needed to complement clients’ personal computer experiences at home and work. Additionally, he gives back through the development of computer labs in schools and churches and provides low to no cost laptops and computers to families who need but cannot afford them. This has especially positively impacted families in the Bronx and Harlem during this pandemic.

 

Kevin holds several professional certificates including a Professional Engineers License (PE) and is a proud 39 year and life member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Incorporated initiated in 1985, by way of the historic Gamma Nu Chapter at the Pennsylvania State University. He’s held several positions in the Fraternity both locally and nationally including Chapter President, Area Director of the Bronx and Westchester alumnae and undergraduate chapters, Chapter Dean, Secretary, Treasurer, Parliamentarian, and Director of Membership. Aside from being the current President of the NPHC of NYC, through his current Chapter, Rho Psi Lambda (the Bronx Alphas), he remains dedicated to the uplift of the greater Bronx community through programs that target youth through mentoring, scholarships, and college tours as well as adults by way of voter registrations drives, food and clothing give-a-ways. Kevin resides in the Bronx with his 2 sons, both recent college graduates.
